'Lady Wrestler' At WrestleCon Convention
I'm excited to attend my first WrestleCon Convention, which will be held in Orlando, Fla., March 30-April 1. This is an opportunity to meet people, network and get the word out about my soon-to-be-released documentary, "Lady Wrestler: The Amazing, Untold Story of African-American Women in the Ring."
WrestleCon is like the pro wrestling version of Comic-Con: an event that brings together fans from around the world with the "characters" they know and love. This year's WrestleCon will feature a variety of events, from photo ops and autograph sessions with celebrity wrestlers to actual wrestling matches.
I'll be attending the WrestleCon Women's Wrestle SuperShow on Saturday, April 2. I thought it made sense to sit ringside at this event, since the "Lady Wrestler" documentary is all about the history of women in this sport.
Before embarking on making "Lady Wrestler," I knew next to nothing about professional wrestling, other than watching it on cable TV when I was a kid. I'm looking forward to immersing myself in this fascinating world while attending WrestleCon. I'll post updates about the experience and as many photos as possible.
